AUGUST 2026
Oh, my where did July go?? I had plans of having this done sooner but time has slipped away this month.
It’s August which means half of our summer is gone and we are looking at September sneaking in right around the corner. Time to get organized!!
Here are the few things we need to fill you in on for August:
-August e-transfers need to be sent for the month; the new snack fee does not need to be added until your September 1st payment. If you did include it in August’s fees, you can adjust your September fee to balance things out.
-We are closed Monday August 3rd, 2026, to observe Heritage Day-enjoy your long weekend.
-We are closed August 4-7th, 2026, to have a few repairs and cleaning done that is easier done when the children are not around for.
-Please remember labelled hats and water bottles for your child and please have them sun screened as well so they are ready for outside in. When we return in August, we will monitor the heat. If it is too hot. then we will re-arrange our day to be sun safe. It worked very well in July, so I anticipate August being the same.
-First day of Montessori Preschool for the 2026-2027 school year is Monday August. 31st, 2026. There will be no additional payment for this start day in August. There will be a cute back to school display outside for the children for the first few days of September.
-First day for Montessori Kindergarten is Monday August. 31st, 2026 at 8:30am.
-Please check with your school boards (calendars are on-line) to confirm when your child returns to school for school age children. Kindergarten parents need to be aware that kindergarten at big school likely does not start until later in September. We are full each day to our license capacity so we will not have availability for extra days during staggered entry at big school. Please do not assume we have space for your child on their big school days.
-In preparation for more children returning to school in September, we ask that backpacks stay home. It congests the entrance even more than it naturally does. Clothing can be stored in bathroom bins; 1 pair of shoes and a hat can be in white bags. It also keeps things from getting lost when we only have minimal things in that small space.
-We are giving the toddler room a little bit of a makeover with new cubbies for their daily items. The damage from the leaking roof last June is being repaired. Our repairman can not give us a definite date just yet; however, there will be some interruptions to things for a short amount of time once we are given repair dates. We will keep you up to date once we have more specifics.
-We will be saying good-bye to many of our children this month as they prepare for big school. It has been an honor to watch your child grow, to get to know each family over the years and we hope you keep in touch! There will also be some new faces joining us in August for trial days and then starting regularly in September.
-Miss Courtney Garrecht will be joining us in the preschool classroom once we return from our break. She popped in last week to say hi and is looking forward to coming back, meeting all the new families, and re-connecting with the ones she remembers.
-The children continue to work up an appetite during the mornings and are needing lunches that are hearty and nutritious to get them through the day. If you are needing lunch ideas, please ask and we can get you some simple and delicious ideas.
-It is VERY important that you bring your child into school, whether into the building or into the playground. The staff need to know they are in care, get them signed in etc. Please do not let them come into the building or playground alone.
-We are working at booking school photos, I am just waiting to hear back from Kim Bratvold and then I will pass along dates and details.
-Music will be returning in mid/late August. Mr. Trent is away on holidays.
-Social Thinkers will be returning in October.
-SACA Kickboxing will return regularly in mid September.
-Speech services will resume in the fall as well. Miss Helen will be in again to coordinate with Mrs. O to get that started and to re-screen the remaining students.
Have a great August!
Please watch the blog and Instagram in August as more information about the coming year will be added as they develop such as testing days, or other information you will need to know to get the year going.
